Are you interested in Programming (Coding) ?   No, you don't need to code to enjoy fpv (thank goodness, I am not a programmer, nor is it something that I personally gravitate towards).  However, the FPV Hobby has numerous options for those individuals wishing to explore aspects of programming.   Opensource projects are active and exist for the following :

Flight Controller Software ( betaflight, emuflight, quicksilver, inav )

Radio Transmitter Software ( edgetx, opentx )

Radio Control Link Protocols ( ExpressLRS ) 

FPV Video Systems ( hd-zero, openVTx )

Electronic Speed Control Software ( bluejay )

And probably many others I am not aware of.

All of these listed above have active Discord server groups (discord.com) to connect up with and plug into their respective communities. Most projects are always looking for volunteer contributors ; from feature/functionality coding, documentation to bug fix testing and validation.
